Keyword refers to any word or string of words like a phrase that a web page contains that highlights the main concept or theme of the web page. the reason that this is so important is search engines use keywords to determine how best to rank and index web pages in the search engine result pages.

In the search engine results pages (also known as SERP’s), keywords are also the words that people will use to find the best match for the information they are looking for.

Keywords are also vital in determining advertising placements in web pages and in the search engine result pages through pay-per-click advertising (PPC).
