Shortcut To Building A Website

Let’s face it, not everyone is a web designer, right?  So how can you get a high quality site without paying the high quality prices?

It’s simple, you get a template.  A website template is basically a website that has been pre-built and designed.  All you have to do is provide the content of what your site will be about.

Templates can come in many varieties.  You can get a full site design or just one page.  It can be in HTML, Flash, PHP, or number of other types.  You can even find templates for blogs and content management systems.  The template can have images already available or ones that you include yourself.  Web templates are really nice because some will even have great features already included like Flash content.  You can have a very nice Flash introduction to really impress your site visitors.

How they work

In order use templates, you have to have a program that can edit them referred to as webpage editors.  Just as templates can come in all shapes and sizes so can web editors.  You can even find some very good web editors completely free.  I recommend checking out a web editor called Nvu.  Not only is it free but it is easy to use.  When first starting out building websites, free editors will be fine but when you start wanting more from your website you may want to consider getting a more powerful web editor such as Dreamweaver by Macromedia.

Where to get web templates

Templates are easy to find on the Internet.  Just use your favorite search engine and type in “web templates” and you will get a long list of web templates.  Some are even free.  But most of the time the free ones will be of lower quality and not very good.  But this isn’t to say that you won’t find one that is good but the likelihood is not very high.

No, if you really want a high quality web template, you will have to pay for it.  But on the positive side, purchasing a web template is often much cheaper than hiring a web designer.  It is very easy to find high quality templates for less than $100.

So how can they be so cheap when designers can charge thousands of dollars?  The way they can do this is because the templates are not custom designed for 1 user meaning that many people can purchase the same template.  Your probably saying to yourself “But I want a unique site”.  Well, you can….by simply editing the site to what you need.  Of course, this is also dependent on your skill level in modifying the template.  An even better way is to take several different templates and combining them to make them unique.

This is the way we usually recommend making the most out of templates.  There is even a website that provides many different templates for 1 low price.  What they do is offer a membership subscription that allows access to thousands of high quality web templates that you can choose from.  The best part is that you can download and use as many templates that you want during your membership.  This membership site is DreamTemplates.com.

So if you want to build a website fast then using templates is the best way to go.  Even if you don’t have any skill at designing and building websites, you can work with web templates because most of the work is done for you.

This is awesome…I always wanted a website but don’t know the first thing about how to create a page because I am not a web designer. What you say about templates makes total sense to use them.
