Why Your Site Needs A Contact Form
Any website that interacts with its readers needs to implement a contact form as the preferred method of reaching the webmaster. Using a contact form offers security against sp@m, standardizes all submissions you receive, and has a more professional feeling.
In today’s technological world, sp@m has continued to be a problem as sp@mmers find new ways to get your email address. Webmasters especially have a tough time with sp@m because they want to make it easy for their website visitors to contact them if necessary but at the same time make it difficult for sp@mmers to get their email address. The solution is using a contact form.
Too often, webmasters simply place their email address on a web page for everyone to see and use. This just invites sp@mmers to add your email address to their lists and the next thing you know, there are 50 new emails waiting for you. Webmasters then quickly fixed this problem by simply placing a space before and after the ‘@’ symbol since many sp@mmers use software spiders to find email addresses and the space before and after confuses them. Another trick is to spell out the symbol and so it might look like ‘email AT mywebsite.com. These can work but eventually software spiders will improve and overcome these tricks. By using a contact form, you effectively eliminate the need to post your email address unless you want to so software spiders will not be able to get it.
Another added benefit to contact forms is that it allows you to receive submissions on your terms. If you don’t want people to just submit whatever is on their minds but instead require certain information, contact forms is the perfect way to do it. This also helps the visitor as contact forms can show them what kind of information is necessary that will help in the communication.
Finally, using forms gives a more professional feel to your website which can be a plus especially if you plan on using your site for business. Using contact forms doesn’t have to be limited to one type or one use either. You can design several different contact forms for different needs. One could be for tech support, another for sales and advertising inquiries, and still another for general inquiries. There is no limited on how and why you would use one.
Whatever kind of website you have in mind to create, be sure to include a contact us page and a contact form so your visitors will be able to submit their query easily, safely, and precisely.
